Old Town Canoes. Craftsmanship, Reliability & Tradition

Old Town Maine has been the ancestral home of the Penobscott tribe for hundreds of years. Nestled on the edge of the river the tribe hunted and built their wooden canoes from ancient birch trees dotted along the river’s edge. And this is where, 100 years ago, Old Town Canoes were born. Made with an eye for detail it didn’t take long for Old Town Canoes to become a huge success. After many years as the world’s largest canoe manufacturer, in 1940 Old Town Canoes produced its first kayak and shortly after became the exclusive manufacturer to the US paddling team. Since then Old Town has helped reshape the canoe and kayak industry by perfecting Roto- Moulded technology and being the first to introduce the high tech Royalex form of plastic.
